Private (Pvt) to Lance Corporal (LCpl) Promotion Practice Test

In an infantry section, the person who directly commands a Private on a daily basis is the Section Commander, typically a Lance Corporal. This role leads the section, handles routine tasks, drills, and discipline, and is responsible for the section’s readiness. The Platoon Leader (usually a Lieutenant) oversees the entire platoon, plans operations, and coordinates between sections, but does not supervise each Private day to day. The Company Sergeant handles company-level matters, and a Unit Clerk is an administrative support role. So the Private’s immediate supervisor is the Section Commander.
